They passed a resolution creating the Lima Veteran's Memorial Hall Improvement Fund as a line item in the county's capital budget. This is where the $10 million from the state's capital budget going toward Memorial Hall will be tracked. It's to be used for possible development of the historic building that has been shuttered for several years.
The fund is to be used for possible development of the historic building that has been shuttered for several years.
"There's not a project available yet. It's more of an enticement for construction or opportunities of a building plan that anyone may have. This $10 million can help offset any of those costs that they may incur during that process," explained Brian Winegardner, Allen County Commissioner.
There is no official word of any development for Memorial Hall at this time.
Winegardner says that they will get interest off of that $10 million while it's there, and it will go into the county's capital budget. As he said, there is no official word of any development for Memorial Hall at this time.
