LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A preview of the Allen County Fair made its way through downtown Lima on Sunday.

Everyone walking and riding in the parade enjoys seeing the supportive smiling faces and giving the local kids a fun afternoon.
With less than a week to go until the Allen County Fair officially opens, the fair parade got the community excited for all of their favorite parts. Members of the Junior Fair and high school bands and cheer squads take the opportunity to show off their personalities with their floats and introduce residents to all of the different projects and shows they'll be able to see. "I've been coming out to the parade since I was really little; most of us have been, so we're excited to actually be in the parade and be a part of it. It really gets people excited; they like to come out and see everybody; lots of kids get candy; we have fun with different music going on, bands playing," said Vivian Elrod, a member of the Junior Fair Board.

The Allen County Fair opening ceremonies are at 4 p.m. this Friday.
"Getting to see all the little kids just excited to see everything, like the animals and us, it's just really cute seeing all their little smiles," added Madison Miller, a senior cheerleader at Perry High School.
The Allen County Fair opening ceremonies are at 4 p.m. this Friday. The Kewpee Showcase of Bands is on Sunday, August 18th, at 7 p.m., and the cheerleading competition is on Wednesday, August 21st, at 7 p.m. You can find the full schedule of events here.
