LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — With more than $139 million in crop and livestock sales, agriculture is Allen County’s top industry. For the last 13 years, the Allen County Agricultural Hall of Fame has recognized residents and businesses that have championed the industry.
Since 2013, there have been 39 inductees, and the hall continues to seek more. Beth Seibert, who has worked on the Ag Hall of Fame since its inception, spoke to the Lima Rotary Club about past inductees and encouraged people to consider family and friends who may have had a strong connection to agriculture over the past quarter century so they can be recognized.
“The majority of folks that we have inducted into the Hall of Fame through various applications are themselves farmers, either full time or part time. And a number of years ago, we made an effort to make sure that agribusiness like CUPE was our first non farmer inductee. And just this last year, we inducted Rudolph foods, and so anybody who has braced and uplifted and enriched the agricultural fabric of Allen County and brought distinction to themselves and this county, we do want to lift up,” says Beth Seibert, Allen County Agriculture Hall of Fame.
