LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen County Veterans Service Commission is seeking volunteers to join a new corps aimed at supporting activities and events for local veterans.
The agency hopes to recruit men and women who want to make a difference in the lives of veterans and their families while fostering a stronger sense of community. Volunteers will assist with events designed to honor veterans, create lasting memories and build a legacy of gratitude and support.
“We put on our Christmas cheer, our Operation Christmas cheer event, we put on our veterans family picnic day. And we're still in the process of developing or coming up with ideas for other things in our volunteer corps, they're there to help assist us with those things,” said Executive Director Tamara Wilson.
Those interested in joining the volunteer corps can visit the commission’s office at the Allen County Courthouse to pick up an application.
