ELIDA, Ohio (WLIO) – Elida Elementary held its annual Spring for the STARS vendor and craft fair Saturday morning, and organizers say this year’s event was one of the biggest shows they have hosted.
Seventy-five vendors set up booths selling a wide variety of handmade goods, including baked goods, clothing, woodwork, spicy sauces and more. The money raised supports the school’s STARS program, which stands for self-control, teamwork, attitude, respect and success. The initiative rewards students for their positive behavior and character.
“During lunch time, they get called up on the stage, and everyone, they applaud for them. They get so excited to get their T-shirt. They love it. They absolutely love it. It makes it feel great, especially when they wear their STARS shirt. Other kids are like, ‘Oh, you were the STARS student.’ Or they see it, and they compliment on it, and they love putting it on. I know we just did it on Friday, and my little girl that won, she put it on over top of her clothes that she had, and she was so excited,” said Nicole Owen of Elida Elementary School.
This marks the 10th year Elida Elementary has hosted Spring for the STARS fundraiser.
