LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima City high school middle school students came together on Tuesday night to perform several orchestral pieces.

Lima Senior and middle school students perform as one through All-City Orchestra Concert

Through the All-City Orchestra Concert, tonight's program combined the West, Liberty Arts, and South Science eighth grade orchestras with the Lima Senior High School Orchestra as one unit.

Through the All-City Orchestra Concert, Tuesday's program combined the West, Liberty Arts, and South Science 7th and 8th grade orchestras with the Lima Senior High School Orchestra as one unit. As a full group, the students performed Orpheus in the Underworld, with smaller musical pieces played by each group on violin, viola, bass, or cello. No matter which instrument they played, the students enjoyed coming together as a school community.

“It's really a feel-good that we can come together with so many people, especially the middle schoolers, with them being relatively new to orchestra if they haven't already been playing before that. It's just really beautiful that we get to come together with these kids. We get to learn pieces together,” says Bauss Williams, a 12th-grade student at Lima Senior who plays first cello.

“I remember doing this as a middle schooler, so it's kind of like a cool moment to see the other kids coming up filling the shoes that I was in. Really basically, it's just them coming up, realizing what high school orchestra is going to be like. They played a harder piece tonight, kind of stepping into our shoes, seeing what we're doing up here,” says Skyler Slaise, a 12th-grade Lima Senior and the Orchestra Manager.

The All-City Band and Choir students performed earlier in March as part of Music in Our Schools Month.
