LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Family YMCA gave families a chance to bond at its annual father-daughter dance. Dads and their daughters dressed up for a night of dancing, snacks, and pictures. The event provides a special evening together with the hope of building stronger relationships between generations. It’s also an opportunity for fathers to show their daughters how they should be treated.

Lima YMCA hosts annual father-daughter dance for family bonding

Dads and their daughters dressed up for a night of dancing.

"It's just a special occasion for fathers to take their daughters to this dance and show them how a man should treat a lady," said April Ann, event coordinator.

Some fathers have been attending the dance for multiple years and never miss an opportunity to bond with their daughters.

"I have my 12-year-old daughter, she's my oldest, and I have an eight-year-old. So I've been bringing my 12-year-old ever since she was one. It's just been a great event. They're involved in dance, so they love dancing. They love spending time with their dad as well. So it's an event we don't miss every year," said Jason Casey, a father who attended the dance with his two daughters.

"Dancing with my dad and spending time with him. He's really fun to dance with because he has really good dance moves. I love him because most dads don't do this, and he takes me all the time. It's so much fun," said Kennedy Casey, Jason's 8-year-old daughter.

The YMCA is grateful for the multiple donations from local businesses that helped make the dance possible.
