LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Mercy Health St. Rita’s held its 6th annual Red Door Gala this evening, with all proceeds from this year’s event going toward the Sisters of Mercy Legacy Fund.

Thanks to the generosity of last year’s donors, Mercy Health now offers a 24/7, 365-day OB emergency area with around-the-clock providers. This means anyone needing those services can be seen by a provider at any time. Officials say their mission remains centered on offering comprehensive care to meet all aspects of a patient’s well-being.

This means anyone needing those services can be seen by a provider at any time.

"Tonight's donations won't actually support a specific building project or piece of equipment. We're focused on what we call the art of medicine, which is all of the many programs that go around those services to really provide the mind, body and spirit support that we know patients need. Probably the most important part of getting health care is the compassion and mercy they feel. So these programs support those types of initiatives," said Ronda Lehman, President with Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

Thanks to the generous donors and supporters, this year's gala raised $301,400.

This year’s Mercy Club awardees were Dr. Thomas Weis and his wife, Gene. Dr. Weis was one of the physicians involved in treating the world’s first known rabies survivor in 1970.
