LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — A new year and a new semester began Monday for students at The Ohio State University at Lima, with the university welcoming them back to campus with a wellness fair.
The event showcased campus and local resources designed to benefit students’ mental, physical, social, and environmental well-being.

Among the booths present were Mercy Health-St. Rita’s and the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, offering pamphlets and information. Other services included on-site therapy dogs and the Lima Medical Massage Center, which provided free five-minute massages.
With the start of a new semester often comes the challenge of balancing social life, academics, and other responsibilities. The university aims to help students transition smoothly by emphasizing the importance of self-care and support.
“Everybody hears the ‘new year, new you.’ This is new year, same you, but we’re just giving you resources and different things you can do to help yourself take the semester in stride,” said Chad Welker, coordinator of recreational sports at Ohio State Lima. “You don’t want to push everything at the beginning and burn out toward the end. Pacing yourself really helps you finish the semester strong.”
This marks the first year Ohio State Lima has hosted a spring wellness fair. Previously, similar events were held only before the fall semester. Due to popular demand, the university plans to continue offering wellness fairs before each semester moving forward.
