Lima, OH, (WLIO) - Rhodes State College getting recognized by the federal government for their program to teach and train the future workforce.

The Lima college was named an Apprenticeship Ambassador by the U.S. Department of Labor. It is for their efforts to promote, expand, and diversify registered apprenticeships. Rhodes State is one of over 200 institutions across the county to be named an Apprenticeship Ambassador and they will work with the others to find ways to expand regional programs.

“We are a nationwide group, so we are going to learn from each other and learn about different occupations that are available through apprenticeships,” says Tammy Eilerman, Senior Dir. Workforce Development for Rhodes State College. “But right now Rhodes State can sponsor a person’s apprenticeship. We can do recruiting for apprentices. So if you have apprentice positions in your company we can help recruit for those openings.”

Rhodes State has been promoting apprenticeship programs for over a decade.
