LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) – The University of Northwestern Ohio is preparing for another academic year, beginning with move-in day as parents helped their students begin their Racer education.
Students in UNOH’s College of Applied Technology arrived on campus for the fall session. Roughly 3,000 students will attend UNOH this fall, with a significant number living on campus.
“Today and tomorrow, we roughly have around 460 students moving in. And in about three weeks, we have about 165 moving in for our fall quarter, which is College of Business combined, it is a total of about 44 states and 15 countries. It's good to see numbers are up a little bit the move in. Numbers are little bit more from last year. It's good to see all these new faces and get them prepared on their journey in life," said Marlo Duffy, UNOH director of housing.
Racer Leaders welcomed students and their families, providing UNOH gear and offering advice as students began their college careers.
“It's really cool to have all these new faces on campus. It's a really great opportunity to have everybody here. We really encourage everybody to come out. It's really cool because we have so many opportunities on campus, so many opportunities for students to get involved and just be a part of the college life. We really encourage students to come out and get involved. We don't like kids just sitting in their dorms, not doing anything. We want them to be involved. We want them to come out, make friends, and really have that genuine college experience," said Jeb Bender, a senior in UNOH’s business marketing program.
The university is hosting events this weekend to help students connect with one another. Classes officially begin Sept. 15.
