Behavioral health hospital announces expansion

The ground outside is frozen, but that doesn't deter officials for a Van Wert County behavioral health facility from moving forward on expansion plans.

The $2.5 million expansion at Ridgeview Behavioral Hospital will nearly double the size of the Middle Point facility and create an estimated 150 new jobs.

During the construction, more than 16,000 square feet will be added.  The facility first opened for patients in May of 2012.  The hospital has 40 beds, but after the expansion, there will be at least 76.

Employees at the hospital treat mental illness and addiction issues.  Construction is expected to be complete in summer of 2014. Â
