Big Brothers Big Sisters open a new office in Hardin County

ADA, OHIO (WLIO) - The Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio opened a new location in downtown Ada to better serve Hardin County.

The organization held an open house at their new location for people to meet the staff and hear what their plans are for the county. The organization has programs in Kenton, Ada, and Ridgemont schools, and they would like to expand to USV and also grow their community-based program in Hardin County. With the new physical presence in the county, they are hoping to provide more mentoring services and support even more youth in need.

“I really expect us to grow and develop a lot more than we have in the past years. This office space is really going to open up a whole lot of opportunity for us. I really hope that we are going to continue to strengthen our current relationships and form new ones,” says Madison Richards, Hardin Co. Coordinator for School and Community Programs.

With the new physical presence in the county, they are hoping to provide more mentoring services and support even more youth in need.

“I think we are going to do well here in Ada, especially with the connections that we have in the community here in Ada, the university, ONU, and all the other small businesses that we are here to support and help each other grow. I think our organization will really do well here,” says Portia Smith, Ex. Dir. BBBS of West Central Ohio.

“We would like to see us grow Bigs and Littles, but Bigs as far as working with underprivileged children that need a mentor. Both men and women to mentor, so they can grow up and see what is available to them and grow in Hardin County. Make Hardin County a better place,” says Ric Johnson, Board Member, BBBS of West Central Ohio.

The new office is located at 229 North Main Street in Ada. If you would like to be a Big or know a child that might need a mentor in Hardin County, you can find out more about it on the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio website or call (419) 222-8500.
