BLUFFTON, OH (WLIO) - Around 100 students took their first steps in their educational career at Bluffton University on Friday.
It's move-in day for about a little more than half of the 170 freshmen that will be starting at the university this fall. Bluffton students were welcomed to the campus with signs and some of the student-athletes helped them move into their dorm rooms. Then when their parents leave, the current students and university staff have a lot of activities planned to make Bluffton feel like home.
"We have a lot of things planned for the students to be able to meet other people, build relationships, get to know their roommate, get to know their resident advisor, their hall directors, their ministry assistance," says Holly Metzger, director of student engagement. "Then also we have something planned for them to get acclimated to what Bluffton has to offer. Our student clubs and organizations, local churches, and area businesses are coming to campus tomorrow. So lots of things this weekend to really help them to know what the village of Bluffton and Bluffton's campus has to offer."
Bluffton university classes begin on August 29th.
