A Lima man who pleaded guilty to rape is heading to prison.

Buck Asmann sentenced to a minimum of seven years for rape

Buck Asmann was sentenced in Allen County Common Pleas Court to a minimum of seven years in prison. New state laws mean it's an indefinite sentence and he could serve up to ten and a half years behind bars. The prosecutor says the crime occurred when Asmann was on a date and the victim asked for a ride home. However, Asmann convinced her to spend the night at his house, promising to take her home in the morning. Asmann previously took a deal that had another count of rape and a case involving tampering with evidence dropped.

"Now he creates a Facebook account that is nearly identical to her existing Facebook account and sent himself a message from it saying I'm sorry I lied to the police about you raping me. You didn't do anything wrong, or something to that effect," Kenneth Sturgill said, the prosecutor of the case.

Asmann had to register as a tier three sex offender and was given 161 days of credit for time served.
