Recognizing the importance and potential of all people. That's the message they hope to portray.
March is designated as Developmental Disabilities Month and the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities is celebrating Comm"unity" with the emphasis on unity. It takes a unified community to assist individuals with developmental disabilities to have the opportunities they deserve. Administrators say it's the partnerships with businesses and organizations that really benefit their clients.
"We do a lot of the coordinating of the services and getting everything in order but it's other people who take care of the individuals we serve day in and day out, help them find jobs, help them do the things they want to do in the community, so we want to celebrate throughout March all of those partnerships,"
Schnipke says they would not be able to do their job without the support of these partners. There will be several events during March in celebration, wrapping up with an open house and tours on Thursday, March 29th.
