Change of Command at DCMA-GDLS

The Defense Contract Management Agency General Dynamics Land Systems welcomes a new commander.

Lieutenant Colonel Travis Adkins previously spent 4 years with the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center, and as a Paulding native he's excited to be home.

"We have an outstanding team and I'm really excited about being back at the JSMC, the products we make here are what keep our soldiers alive and help them fight, survive, and that's something to be very proud of," said Lieutenant Colonel Travis Adkins.

Adkins takes over for former commander Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Hodge, who is retiring after more than 2 decades with the army.

"It's been a great 26 years, and the team here at GDLS and JSMC has been incredible, I love working with them, it's never the machines you remember it's always the people," said Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Hodge.

In his new role Adkins will act as government oversight at the JSMC.

"We do have a major infrastructure investment coming in, we're going to invest at least $69 million at the JSMC, other than that we do have another tank coming soon and we're really excited about that," said Lieutenant Colonel Travis Adkins.

And as for his successor, Hodge offers some advice.

"Be ready for anything, you don't know what problem you're going to have when you're coming in for the day, but you will have one, but he'll get through it, he's a great officer," said Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Hodge.
