A change of venue has been requested in the case of a Hardin County man, accused of kidnapping a 7-year-old Kenton girl.
According to documents filed in Hardin County Common Pleas Court, the attorney for Charles Castle has requested the change of location to ensure their client gets a fair trial. They say they are seeking a location untainted by pre-trial publicity.
The request says multiple media outlets, including Your Hometown Stations, have been actively reporting the details of Castle's case. Further, the change of venue request claims because of extensive and ongoing pre-trial publicity, and social media posts. It would make it presumably impossible to seat an impartial jury.
Castle is accused of multiple crimes, including rape, attempted murder, and kidnapping of the young girl. He has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity on those charges.
