ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - November is "National Adoption Month," and Allen County Children Services is getting the word out about the process.

She says they are always looking to add to their network of foster homes as well. The agency holds an online information event on the first Wednesday of every month to answer any foster-related questions.
So far this year, the agency has had twelve children find a forever home through adoption, triple the amount of last year. It's been one of the busiest years that Allen County Children Services has had, but there are still 10 children between the ages of 3 and 17 waiting for a permanent home, and that list could grow. So the call is going out for loving families to step forward and learn about the rewards of providing a child with a loving place to call home.

"A place that, as a child, you know there's food there, that you have a warm bed, then as you get older, the father can walk her down the aisle. They can call them if their car breaks down on the side of the road. They can call them for financial advice. It's just knowing you have someone to come to when you need advice or just to talk," explained Ann Jenkins, supervisor in charge of the foster care unit at Allen County Children Services.
