The City of Lima filed another nuisance action on a downtown bar on Wednesday.
Law Director Tony Geiger said the action was taken on "Levels" bar at 122 E. North St. for much the same reasons of 904 S. Main St. Geiger said the business, formerly known as "Beantown Saloon," has had many criminal disturbances and excessive police calls. According to the records bureau of Lima Police Department, since January 1, 2018, officers were dispatched there 94 times. Geiger said the city is looking to prohibit the business from conducting that type of activity and if need be, will ask the court to shut it down.
"We did have extensive conversations with the owner at the time that they were seeking to transfer the liquor license and obtain it, in their name," said Geiger. "We thought we had a cooperative relationship with them. But we've continued to see disturbances at the bar since that time. One of the latest ones involved a weapon inside the premises."
Geiger said although he isn't satisfied with their efforts, he is always willing to talk out a compromise.
