LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima is hoping the small blanket of snow we got overnight will help with freezing pipes.
Crews from the city's water department have been busy since the arctic blast hit the area. Many homeowners have been facing frozen water lines since Sunday when the temperature plummeted. If you do find frozen water lines, the utilities department suggests that you give them a call and they can come out and evaluate the situation. If you think you have located the frozen area and want to thaw it out be sure to follow these instructions.
"And if it does freeze don't try and thaw it out with an open flame. If it's in your house and you think you have an idea what area it's in, take a hair dryer, a hair dryer, moving it slowly back and forth will thaw a frozen line out," suggested Mike Caprella, director of the City of Lima Utilities Department.
Caprella suggests that you leave a small stream of water running from your faucet during these frigid temperatures as moving water is hard to freeze.
