Clock tower restoration underway at Allen County Courthouse

One of the largest capital improvement project for the county is now underway. Crews are perched high above the Allen County Courthouse as renovations start on the iconic clock tower.

Nathan Lee Restorations out of Delphos specializes in these type of restorations and were busy removing slate shingles from the tower on Tuesday. As work continues, the public will start to notice gaping holes as more of the plywood and sheet metal are removed in preparation for repairs. Although the clock tower appears to be constructed of sandstone, it's actually formed sheet metal.

Capital Projects Manager, Dana Sterling says they hope to complete the project by winter but thinks it may drift into the spring of 2017 due to certain conditions needed for the paint to cure.
