LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Councilman Derry Glenn is asking for help for a local family in need.
As part of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program, Councilman Glenn is asking local businesses and anyone who can donate funds to help restore a house on West Wayne Street in Lima. The home is owned by an elderly, sick brother and sister who have fallen on hard times and cannot afford to make repairs themselves. The two will have to leave their home if funds for repairs are not made to fix their cement foundation.
Councilman Glenn knows what it means to help his fellow neighbor and knows what the Lima community is capable of when it can lend a hand to someone in need of help.
"I overheard him talking that he needed help. And he needed some help with some things, and he gave me a call. Someone had discussed with him that Dr. Glenn has a Neighbor's Helping Neighbors program. I mean, they've been over here for 30 some years, so we wanna keep them in their home. So that's what I'm asking our big companies out there to help us out. Send in money to the foundation; you have the information, and it will help out. We'll make sure we get some contractors out here and work on some of the things they have. And it's a lot of work they need done here, but the main thing is the foundation. So we'll get that foundation fixed, and then we're gonna work our way inside the home," explained Derry Glenn, 6th Ward Councilman.
The Neighbors Helping Neighbors program with Glenn has been going on for over 8 years, and any financial assistance for the project is greatly appreciated. Donations can be forwarded to the address on your screen. For more information, call Glenn at 419-905-9572.
