LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The City of Lima once again is organizing a day of service for residents to give back to their neighbors.
The Department of Housing and Neighborhoods is putting collections barrels out for their Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. This is the second year they have supported three local non-profits. This year's recipients are Crime Victim Services, Heart and Sole, and All Starr Pets.
"A lot of people said that why don't you do anything for animals? I know All Starr Pets, I follow them on Facebook looking for animals, so I was like lets do that. They're local, they're all over the place and they have a lot of dogs and cats that need help. So, we're going to give back to them this year," said Sydni Winkler, Lima Neighborhood Specialist.
All Star Pets is asking for small and large dog collars, kitten chow (hard), canned kitten food (wet), cat toys, puppy toys (smaller toys), large gravity water bowls, cleaning supplies, paper towels, bleach and odoban.
Crime Victim Services is asking for Personal Hygiene Products, new sweatpants, cleaning products, paper towels, and toilet paper.
Heart and Sole is asking for size 10- 6 youth socks.
The Crime Victim Services barrel will be at The Meeting Place (220 W Market St, Lima, OH 45801), Heart and Sole barrel at Vibe Coffee House (311 E Market St Suite 107, Lima, OH 45801), and the All Starr Pets barrel will be at the City Building (50 Town Square Lima OH 45801).

Lima— January 4, 2023 — From Friday, January 5, to Tuesday, January 17, 2022, there will be donation drop boxes set up around the City of Lima for members of the community to donate materials to community partners.
· City Building (50 Town Square, Lima, OH 45801) will be collecting donations for the All Star Pets.
· The Meeting Place (220 W Market St, Lima, OH 45801) will be collecting donations for Crime Victim Services.
· Vibe Coffeehouse & Café (311 E Market St Suite 107, Lima, OH 45801) will be collecting donations for Heart and Sole.
