A Lima murderer has had his execution date delayed again.

Execution date of Cleveland Jackson pushed back

Governor Mike DeWine late today announced that Cleveland Jackson's execution date has been moved from June 2023 to July of 2026. DeWine has been issuing delays for years now because of ongoing problems involving the unwillingness of pharmaceutical suppliers to provide drugs for lethal injections.

Jackson was convicted along with his half-brother Jeronique Cunningham of shooting and killing 17-year-old Leneshia Williams and 3-year-old Jayla Grant at an apartment on Eureka Street in 2002. 8 people were shot during that robbery attempt. Cunningham is serving a sentence of life in prison. Jackson has been on death row for more than 20 years.
