
Local airports are getting federal funding to make some improvements. The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants to six airports in Northwest Ohio totaling more than $4.6 million. The Allen County Regional Airport got $141,660 to replace a piece of equipment to help airplanes on their approach to the runaway.

Other area airports to get funds, including the Putnam County Airport ($250,200) to make repairs to their apron and taxi lanes. The Armstrong Airport in Auglaize County will use their $287,751 grant to update their master plan to better reflect the future needs of the airport. The Findlay Airport got the largest grant in Northwest Ohio with $2,055,732, so they can reconstruct 11,000 square yards of the north apron pavement. The grants come from the FAA's airport improvement program.
