Finding a unique gift at the last minute

When it comes to present giving, it's the thought that counts, right?  However, for those of you who want to put a little extra thought into this years holiday gifts, here are some ideas.

"I buy what I like and I hope other people like it too," said David Tebben, owner of David's Finery in Lima.

Tebben seeks out items for his store that can't be found anywhere else in Lima.

"Like my sole mates socks.  It's a U.S. company.  They are unique items made in the U.S.  I also try to incorporate local talent," said Tebben.

Many customers come in looking for a specific item.

"Our cousins had bought sparkly headbands and of course my girls wanted them for Christmas," said Nakoa Crates, David's Finery customer.

Of course, when you buy last minute, some of those unique gifts are out of stock.  That's what happened with the headbands.   However, the family was still able to find some other interesting items to take home.

For another random collection of items, Kohn's Pawn Shop has sold plenty of unique gifts this season.

"We have sold a slot machine.  We have sold a go-kart.  We have sold a three wheeled motorcycle," said Mark Scher, store manager.

Those items are already gone, but the shop is still full. There's a yellow diamond, a musical Elvis decanter, and a rare bottle of champagne. There's also one item that won't be under anybody's Christmas tree.

"We have a leg here.  We can't sell it, but we took it in on a loan," said Scher

To be more clear, it's a prosthetic leg.

Maybe now, last minute shoppers will have a "leg up" on finding that perfect gift.
