LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Fresh N Faded and Team Outreach Lima saw a great turnout at their latest event for people with disabilities. The free event had bingo, karaoke and dancing, and food and drinks for community members with disabilities. Thanks to sponsors, there were plenty of prizes to be given away too.

The event is just one of many that Team Outreach Lima hosts for those of different abilities, like their Ohio State Michigan Tailgate in the fall. Over 80 people came out, and all had a fun time.

"A lot of times, they are forgotten about, and when they reach out to us, the staff reach out to us, we always make sure that we put on something spectacular for them. They can dance, get exercise, something they can remember," said Quincy Peoples, the director of Team Outreach Lima.

"My most rewarding part is seeing their smile. You know, just making everybody happy," added Leandre Johnson, the owner of Fresh N Faded.

The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities adds that the number of events Fresh n Faded has hosted makes the people they serve feel valued, and they're beginning to see the volunteers as friends.

The Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities says that the number of events Fresh n Faded has hosted makes the people they serve feel valued, and they're beginning to see the volunteers as friends.

They talk about it a lot. They are constantly letting us know, When can we go again? What are they going to do next? And they're grateful. They're starting to know their names; they're seeing them in the community; they're greeting them in the community with their names and letting them know something is going to be coming up soon; we're going to be getting back together," explained Trois Parker, the Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities' community connections specialist.

Fresh N Faded is also looking for volunteers for their annual Trunk or Treat on October 27, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m.
