Fundraiser hopes to send local youth to summer camp while sprucing up Robb Park

It's a win-win opportunity for local youth and the City of Lima.

A fundraiser for kids to go to summer camp will give Robb Park a little spruce up. Rally Point Youth Center students will be asking people to sponsor their "1/2 Mile til Camp" project as they edge sidewalks at the park. The goal is to edge 880 linear yards, which equals a half-mile, for a sponsorship of $10 per yard. If they meet that goal, enough money will be raised for twenty teens to attend the Youth for Christ Camp this summer.

"That's their way paid to camp, and so to be able to put money towards that, it directly affects our community and our city and the appearance and it also directly affects a Lima teen and giving them a unique experience at summer camp," said Jared Diller, Rally Point Youth Center Director.

"It's one of those things that we don't always have time to do and when we get a volunteer effort, a group to come out and take care of any of those opportunities for us, to help us beautify a space, it's a win-win for the community."
