LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It is a tradition that has been going on for over 100 years and teaches young women some very important skills. Of course, we are talking about Girl Scout cookies. Sales have already started and will continue until the beginning of March. The sale of the cookies helps troops pay for activities. A box of cookies is $6, but there are a few new flavors that you may want to try.
“We've actually changed bakers,” adds Marcy Stevens, Girl Scout Troop Leader. “So, this year we have in our new lineup is; Lemonades, Toast-Ya and some of our favorites are still there, but they may be under a different name.”
And the girls learn a lot of lessons when they sell cookies, especially during the winter.
“You just need to push through the cold weather. Like last year it was really cold,” says Elora Stevens, Girl Scout. “We get to have fun and get to learn life skills.”
Local Girl Scout Troops will start sales at booth locations on February 16th. You can find where they will be or order your cookies by going to the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio website.
