
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - Allen County detectives are looking to question a Haitian man about a homicide that happened in American Township on March 10, 2024.

Detectives want to talk to 31-year-old Gervens Justilien, who sometimes lives at the Makely Drive address where 26-year-old Christlande Auguste was found dead of strangulation and blunt force trauma. Justilien is known to travel between homes in Inkster, Michigan, and Springfield, Ohio. He is currently not a suspect; he is wanted for questioning. He is the only resident at the Makley Drive address that detectives have not accounted for, and they want to talk to him to see if he knows anything about the homicide.

Sheriff's officials say that the victim, Christlande Auguste, is also from Haiti, has been in the United States since October 2022, and was granted a temporary employment authorization card while waiting for an asylum hearing. The detectives have been in contact with the Haitian Embassy to try and notify her next of kin.
March 21, 2024 Press Release from the Allen County Sheriff's Office: The Allen County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau is asking for the public's help locating Gervens Justilien. He is a 31-year-old Black male of Haitian descent: 5'7"; 179 lbs; black hair; brown eyes. They would like to speak with him regarding the Makley Dr. homicide. Gervens is known to travel between the Makley Dr. residence to Inkster, MI, and Springfield, Ohio. Gervens is the only known Makley Dr. resident who has not been accounted for since the homicide was discovered. Gervens is not considered a suspect at this time, but it is possible he may have information that could aid the Detective Bureau in furthering their investigation.
We can release the identity of the victim, Chrislande Auguste, born 10-23-1997. Chrislande traveled from Haiti to the United States in October of 2022 and was granted a temporary employment authorization card while awaiting an asylum hearing. The Detective Bureau has been in contact with the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti out of Washington, DC, in an attempt to notify Chrislande's next of kin in Haiti. Conflicting information on documents present at the residence are considered typographical errors on the part of the issuing United States agency, and at this time, all residents are believed to be lawfully present within the United States.
