LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - A police chase ended in a crash on Allentown Road Sunday afternoon.
Right around 5 p-m, a Shawnee Township police officer was conducting a traffic violation stop when a male in a black Ford fled the scene. During the chase the male was driving nearly twice the speed limit down Eastown Road and ran at least one stop light during the chase, according to scanner traffic.
The chase came to an end when the vehicle crashed, knocking down a utility pole and bringing down attached phone and cable lines. The driver was transported to Lima Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. Officials have not released what led to the initial traffic stop.
The incident remains under investigation.
