RUSSELLS POINT, OH (WLIO) - For many, Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of summer, and the businesses of Indian Lake are more than ready for the season and all the tourism it brings.

Many restaurants, marinas, and stores were damaged in the March 14th tornado. Some are still working on reopening, while others are unsure if they'll be able to. But for those who are back in business, Memorial Day brings a much welcomed boost to the local economy.

While the area isn't completely recovered, with many damaged structures remaining and increased no-wake zones due to debris, families can still count on the lake for a fun weekend.

"We are seeing pretty typical Memorial Day numbers, which is very encouraging. We want people to know, hey, we are ready for you. Indian Lake is all about tourism. We are here to show people how to enjoy their family, old to young; everyone can do so many different things here at Indian Lake, and we are ready," said Monica Hurst, the general manager of Spend-A-Day Marina on Orchard Island.

Analysis on the debris in the water still needs to be completed, but Spend-A-Day says that based on their experience making deliveries across it, the lake is in good condition for boating.
