The second half of real estate and mobile home taxes are due Friday. While many find paying taxes annoying they are needed to keep our society moving. Levies are funded by these tax dollars for much-needed services. Services that have been passed by registered voters.

"There's a lot of entities that we collect those taxes on behalf of. So I'm not collecting them for the county specifically, although there's a small portion that does go to the county. A majority of that funding goes to the schools, the townships, the villages, police departments, essentially any of the levies that were voted in your neighborhoods either by you or your neighbors, that is what we're collecting," said Krista Bohn, Allen County Treasurer.

Taxes must be paid by midnight Friday to avoid the mandated 10% late fee penalty. There are instructions on the back of your tax statement of where and how you can make the payment.
