LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The United Way of Greater Lima getting a helping hand thanks to the Lewis Family McDonald's.
For about two weeks, all of the proceeds from cookies that were purchased at a Lewis Family McDonald's location went into a donation for the United Way. On Tuesday, the check for $3,800 was presented to United Way officials to go towards assisting over 30 non-profits in Allen County.
Erin Hardesty, president and CEO of the United Way of Greater Lima, says that this donation will go far in helping those with many different aspects in life.
"There is a lot that we can do with that; if you look at the West Ohio Food Bank, who is one of our partner agencies, 19 cents a pound is what they can get food for, and that's a lot of pounds when you think of $3,800," Hardesty said. "We also support 36 partner agencies and 40 programs, so this money can help support every one those for people in Allen County who need help with health, education, and financial stability."
Hardesty adds that she and the United Way are thankful for businesses like the Lewis Family McDonald's, who have always stepped up to help support their cause in Allen County.
