LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It's hard to believe students will be back in the classroom in just a few weeks.

The Lima City Schools will be celebrating the welcoming of students back into the classroom with their "Back to School Celebration" next Tuesday. Students from all across the region can pick up free school supplies and families can enjoy a picnic meal. School administrators say the celebration is much more than just going back to school.

"Getting out into the neighborhoods for us has always been very important. We'll also have our small bus there so if parents need help registering their kids for school, we'll have laptops and Wi-Fi, we can assist them with that. And it really is just part of being a community. We're not really a school that day, we are a community and we're all coming together," said Superintendent Jill Ackerman, Lima City Schools.

The Back to School Celebration will be at Martin Luther King Park on Tuesday, August 9th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The park is located at 441 E 8th Street, Lima, OH 45804.
