A local doctor who helped people afford medical care Is leaving his practice next week. Dr. Anthony Atkins helped start Health Partners in 2003, a non-profit medical center for people unable to typically afford medical services.
The facility started at 5,000 square feet, moving to a new building 60,000 square feet large with a dental and mental health center. Atkins passion to serve people started in his childhood in Detroit, where he saw people struggling to afford to see a doctor.
His patients have been saying their good-byes, but they are having a hard time letting him go. Dr. Anthony Atkins plans to continue his work in the Toledo area and hopes to expand his mission by working with university hospitals.
