She came to Lima in 1944 to help support her family back in Georgia and has been here ever since.
Neotha Paden just celebrated her 93rd birthday in February and her family asked Lima Mayor Sharetta Smith if she could give Paden a proclamation for this milestone birthday. Mayor Smith made that proclamation today at her weekly briefing congratulating Paden for reaching 93-years young. Paden says she has lived a good life and loved her family.
Neotha Paden adds, “I feel wonderful because I helped all my family. There was fourteen of us and I’m the one that helped them all. I worked at St. Rita’s, and I made money and helped my momma with my brothers and sister.”
Paden’s extended family is coming into town this week to help her celebrate her birthday.
