LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The sounds of music education filled the Lima Public Library Saturday morning as the Lima Symphony Orchestra hosted another Mornings with the Maestro.
Music Director Andrew Crust and a quartet of string musicians taught children and adults about the violin, viola and cello, including the sounds they make and how they complement each other during a performance. The educational series is an important program for the Lima Symphony Orchestra, introducing different instruments to children and encouraging them to consider learning to play in the future.
“We have this great partnership with a Lima Public Library, and it's great that we can do this throughout our season, and we have different programs that come and it's just a great way to be out with the public, interact with the children and get them to kind of have more of a unique experience with our musicians. It's a great time for them to be exposed and hopefully maybe pique an interest, and maybe at some point that they're going to want to be playing those instruments as well,” said Allison Rode, project manager for the Lima Symphony Orchestra.
The next “Mornings with the Maestro” program will be held March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lima Public Library. The event is free and open to the public.
