LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Whether you are a fitness nut or thinking about getting fit, you won't want to miss out on the newest park in Lima.

It's called the "Lima Fitness Court," and it's an outdoor gym that allows users to leverage their own body weight to do a workout. The court has seven stations that are adaptable for all fitness levels. The city applied for a Healthy Cities campaign grant through the Ohio Mayor's Alliance and received $30,000 to install the fitness course, which is a part of the national fitness campaign.Â

"The idea stems from the premise that healthy people make a healthy community. And in order for us to realize that goal, we have to invest in the infrastructure to make that happen. The fitness course is an opportunity to bring free, accessible equipment opportunities for individuals that are concerned about their health now, or may not be concerned about their health, or who just want to get out and exercise," said Mayor Sharetta Smith, City of Lima.

The public is invited to check out the fitness course on Thursday, May 23rd, at noon, where individuals trained by the National Fitness Campaign will be on hand to demonstrate what the course offers. It's located south of the Ottawa River off West Eureka Street, between South Main Street and Elizabeth Street.
