Wapakoneta, OH (WLIO) -Â After taking the last couple of years off because of COVID, the Miracle Meal brought the community together once again at the Auglaize County fairgrounds. The free meal started 27 years ago when two families wanted to do something for people around Wapakoneta. But the origin of the name came from that meal, because they ran out of food before the dinner was scheduled to end and then all the sudden, a miracle, as food started coming in to make sure that everyone was fed. Since then, around 100 volunteers continue to be the miracle to help a around three hundred people have what they need during holidays.Â
“They might have a need for food, they might have a need to just get together, or they might have a spiritual need,” says Rollie Kent, Organizer of the Miracle Meal. “But whatever it is, why, they all have a good time when we get together like this. It is a great community. All the businesses, all the churches, everybody comes together. It is not anyone person.”
Besides the meal, there was a raffle for presents and other free items that they could take home.
