More deer harvested during week long gun season this year than in years past

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says more than 70,400 deer were checked during the weeklong gun season that concluded on December 5th. Over the past three years, the average was a little over 65,000 deer. While using a gun is the most favorite form of hunting, bow hunters have harvested more deer for the last eight years straight. The Department of National Resources says 75% of hunters participate in both gun and archery season. Gun hunters will have another chance to bag their buck during the extra gun weekend on December 18th and 19th.
