Nature Pals are having fun learning about deer

BATH TOWNSHIP, ALLEN COUNTY (WLIO) - The Johnny Appleseed Park’s Nature Pals learned about the deer in our area and had fun doing it. Nature Pals is for kids 3 to 5 years old and they got to do a lot of crafts, sing songs, and participate in hands-on activities focused on the white-tailed deer. Then they headed out into the woods to see if they could find signs of deer. Nature Pals uses learning through playing to teach young kids about nature that is all around them.

“We try and help them explore using all their senses. So, we have different activities that they use their hands, they can find the fawns using their eyes,” says Marie Walton, Naturalist at Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District. “We are going to be going out in nature looking for footprints in the mud. So multisensory experiences. I hope to see them connect with nature, to make connections in their own lives.”
