Dozens of people gathered outside of New Morning Star Baptist Church to witness their family and friends give their lives over to Christ. On Sunday close to 25 people were baptized in the pond outside of the Baptist church.
Those who were getting baptized sang and praised God as they waited their turn and people applauded once they were done. The church pastor has been baptizing people in the pond for more than 40 years.

He says it's important for people to understand the reasoning behind this Christian tradition.
“It’s not important to get baptized,” said Pastor C.M. Manley of New Morning Star Baptist Church. “It’s important to get born again before you get in the water. I won’t baptize until you’re born again.”
This baptism is held every year in August.
