Veronica and Aaron McLaurine talked to the Lima Kiwanis Club about their ministry and service to the community. They created the non-profit Soldiers of Honor around 20 years ago. Each year they serve around 250 kids, some of whom are at-risk, and help build their confidence, self-esteem, and resiliency.

"People don't like to be challenged, But when we challenge the people or the youth in the right type of way, it's good for them and it allows them to know that sometimes people can say no. They don't get things their way, and it just gives them the reason or ability to bounce back. So, we just love that part of it, learning those manners as well," says Aaron McLaurine, Soldiers of Honor Ministry.

"That confidence definitely grows. I think the kids kind of build off of each other," adds Veronica McLaurine, Soldiers of Honor Ministry. "So, you see a lot of confidence just from them being together. The comradery of the group, it's exciting."
