The Ohio State Highway Patrol is encouraging people to drive with caution this Super Bowl weekend.

Troopers will be out on the roads cracking down on impaired drivers on Super Bowl Sunday. They are encouraging the folks hosting parties for the big day to make sure their guests have a safe ride home and that no one under 21 is consuming alcohol.

They are also urging party-goers to plan ahead before they go out.

"It's the time of year where it is associated with people having parties and get-togethers where alcohol is," said Lt. Tim Grigsby, Lima Post Commander for the OSP. "We just encourage people to think ahead, have a sober driver or call a Lyft driver or whatever you've got to do to get home safely if you've consumed any alcohol."

In 2018, the OSP made 43 arrests of drivers operating their vehicle while impaired between 6:00 Sunday morning through 6:00 Monday morning. they say three fatalities in that time and almost 300 injuries from traffic crashes.
