LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A Lima business is asking the community for their support to get the doors back open.
Improvements were planned due to a leaky roof, but family medical needs had to come first.
Mama Dot is well known for her soul food and has fed hundreds over the years. The restaurant opened in 2012 at the corner of Third and Saint Johns. In 2022, the South Lima Community Development Corporation held an event to improve the outside of the restaurant. Work was to then go inside to make improvements due to a leaky roof, but family medical needs had to come first. Then last December, a gas leak forced them to close the doors. They will be holding a "Raise the Roof" fundraiser this Sunday to hopefully get a new roof and move repairs inside.
The event will be at the restaurant, located at 1290 St. Johns Avenue, Lima, OH 45804, this Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
"And we want to also bring back the dine-in area. Because we had that once before, and with us being able to get some construction done in here, we can make that happen," said Kimberly Tibbs, manager.
Mama Dot will be cooking her soul food this Sunday, with several meals on the menu for purchase. There will also be vendors, music, and more to help "Raise the Roof." The event will be at the restaurant, located at 1290 St. Johns Avenue, Lima, OH 45804, this Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.
