43-year-old Quincy J. Pritchett from Lima was the man who died in the shooting involving 26-year-old Deputy Izak Ackerman early Tuesday morning. Pritchett was taken to the Lucas County Coroners' Office for an autopsy. The sheriff's office says the final report confirming the cause of death and toxicology is not expected for several weeks.

Ackerman was also shot in the incident and underwent successful surgery in Columbus and is now home recovering. He will be off duty on medical leave and will likely remain off duty during the course of the BCI investigation.

What started as a traffic stop on Second Street turned into a vehicle chase near Sugar Street and then a foot chase when Pritchett ditched the vehicle and ran. The sheriff's office reports the early investigation shows there was a struggle and shots were fired by Ackerman and Pritchett.
