The Spencerville community is mourning the loss of their beloved police chief.
53-year-old Chief Darin Cook died Tuesday night following a sudden illness. He had been an officer since 1991 and police chief for the last 18 years. He is is credited with starting the first K-9 unit in Spencerville. Cook was a 1984 graduate of Perry High School and the Apollo program. Cook is survived by his wife and two children, as well as several siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Spencerville High School.
