St. Gerard's Festival weekend in Lima

It's festival season in West Central Ohio and one of the area's biggest kicks off tonight.

The St. Gerard Parish Festival begins at 5:00 on Friday evening.  2013 marks the 35th anniversary of the festival.  The event will feature new food items such as fried bologna and watermelon.  However, the famous chicken wings will also be for sale.  Each year about 4,000 pounds of wings are grilled.  Co-chair Brent Dawson says those who come can enjoy the tried and true favorites year after year.

The 5K will return on Saturday morning, a special mass will be held Sunday morning under the big tent, and bands will be featured all weekend long.

Security and the mounted posse will patrol the festival.  A curfew for kids under 18 will be enforced after nine in the evening. Â
